Yoga For Core and Calm | A 4-Class Series

  • Scarborough Community Center Cape Town, WC South Africa (map)

There are already Christmas decorations up in the shops! Diaries are filling up, events are looming, exams and celebrations and holidays….

You’re invited to pause with me. To consciously slow things down so that you can reconnect with your body and your breath, allowing you to move into the silly season with greater awareness and intention, equipped with tools and awareness that can help you to show up as the most regulated version of yourself.

When, where, what?

Class is 5.30-6.30pm every Wednesday in November 2024, starting on Wednesday 6 November 2024, at the Scarborough Community Center.

Each class will start with pranayama (breathwork), include a Sivananda-style Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), movement through a number of asana (physical poses) with mini-rests between each pose, and close with Savasana (corpse pose, or relaxation pose) in which the body and mind are given the opportunity to integrate the benefits of the class.

I have over 500 hours of yoga training which includes 300hr RYT in Integral Vinyasa, advanced certifications in Yin Yoga, Pranayama, Prenatal Yoga, and I am a Conscious Connected Breathwork facilitator. My teaching combines nuggets from all the courses I’ve ever taken, and my mantra is ‘listen to your body, move with your breath’.

what level of experience do I need?

Absolute beginners are welcome, as are yogis with decades of experience, plus everyone in between.

What will I need?

o  An awareness of your own body and its limitations: if you haven’t practiced yoga for a while or ever before, if you have an injury, if you are pregnant or recovering from an illness or operation, you are advised to consult with your medical practitioner before joining the class.

o   Dress in comfortable, stretchy clothes that you can easily move in - always a good idea to dress in layers so you can strip off or put back on as your temperature fluctuates.

o   Whatever yoga equipment you need- a mat, cushion, bolster, eye mask, strap etc - but if you need to borrow, please let me know at least an hour before class.

o  A bottle of water

o   A shawl or blanket to cover  your body with during Savasana (relaxation) as your temp will drop and the sun will be setting.

What is the cost of the course?

R100 per class or R300 if you book and pay for all four classes upfront
